GitPulse Terms of Service

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GitPulse platform ("Service"). The Service is operated by the Department of Computers and Informatics (KPI), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (FEI), Technical University of Kosice (TUKE).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.


2. Description of Service

GitPulse is an educational platform for supporting DevOps education and evaluating team collaboration in GitLab projects. The Service provides:

  • Automated synchronization and analysis of data from GitLab repositories
  • Dashboard with activity and collaboration metrics
  • Automated assessment based on configurable rules (R01-R13)
  • Rubric-based instructor grading
  • Email notifications about progress and assessments
  • Data and report export

3. Eligible Users

The Service is intended exclusively for:

  • Students enrolled in courses at FEI TUKE that use GitPulse
  • Instructors and administrators who manage courses on the platform
  • Authorized personnel of the Technical University of Kosice

Access to the Service requires a valid account on the university GitLab instance (git.kpi.fei.tuke.sk) and authentication via GitLab OAuth.


4. User Obligations

When using the Service, you agree to:

What you must do

  • Provide accurate information in your profile
  • Use the Service only for educational purposes within enrolled courses
  • Comply with academic integrity rules and university regulations
  • Protect your login credentials and not share account access
  • Respect the privacy of other users

What is prohibited

  • Attempting unauthorized access to other users' data or system resources
  • Manipulating or falsifying activity data (gaming)
  • Performing automated scanning or load testing without permission
  • Disrupting the Service operation or circumventing security measures
  • Using the Service for purposes unrelated to the educational process

5. Intellectual Property

Student Content

Source code, commits, issues, and other content you create in your GitLab repositories remain your intellectual property. GitPulse does not acquire any ownership rights to your content.

GitPulse Platform

The software, design, documentation, and related materials of the GitPulse platform are protected by copyright. The Service is developed as part of a diploma thesis at FEI TUKE under the MIT License.


6. Service Availability

  • The Service is provided "as-is" without warranty of uninterrupted availability
  • We make reasonable efforts to ensure the Service is available during the academic semester
  • The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues
  • We will notify users of planned outages through in-Service announcements

7. Privacy

The processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Statement, which forms an integral part of these Terms.


8. Limitation of Liability

  • GitPulse is an educational tool and does not replace professional instructor evaluation
  • Automated assessments serve as decision support, not as final grades
  • The Department of KPI, FEI TUKE is not liable for damages arising from Service unavailability, data loss, or technical errors, to the maximum extent permitted by law
  • System-generated assessments are indicative and subject to instructor approval

9. Termination

  • Your access to the Service may be terminated after the academic course ends
  • The course administrator may restrict or remove your access if you violate these Terms
  • You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through in-Service announcements. By continuing to use the Service after changes are published, you agree to the updated Terms.


11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. Any disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of the Slovak Republic.
